Last Minute Father’s Day Gift Ideas That Don’t Look Last Minute!

Did you just realize you only have a week left before it’s Father’s Day? You’re not alone! My personal realization is what sparked the idea for this post.

Quick steps on how to resolve this issue:
Step 1. Grab a wine glass
Step 2. Open a bottle of wine
Step 3. Pour said wine into glass
Step 4. Take a sip

Feel better? Great! Unfortunately, that didn’t solve the issue of being unprepared, however, it should have helped you feel less shitty about the situation :)

Okay, time to get serious!

Here are some fun ideas to help you show him some love without it being obvious you sorta forgot:

1. Determine if he’d prefer an experience over an actual gift. I personally love experience gifts because they provide memories and make holidays and birthdays feel special. When I think back to special occasions, it’s the experiences I remember, not the shoes. Okay, so maybe I do remember the shoes… but the experiences typically make me laugh, which shoes are unable to do.

Ideas for experiences:
. Take him to a drive in movie theater
. Go bowling as a family
. Go to Top Golf or go play a few rounds of mini golf
. Treat him to a massage
. Go beer tasting at a local brewery
. Take the kids and go have a family picnic
. See if there are any local bands in your area that are having a concert
. Take him to a comedy club
. Make personal pizza’s at home as a family
. Go to dinner as a family
. Go for a walk or bike ride as a family
. Take him fishing

2. Are the kids little?

If yes…

. Have them make their own Father’s Day cards
. Have them draw a picture or create art that can be framed
. Make prints of their little hands and feet with paint and add their name and date
. Help the kids make breakfast and serve breakfast in bed
. Have them put on a mini concert or play
. Help them bake dad a cake or his favorite desert

3. Prefer a more traditional gift?

Gift ideas:
. Basket filled with his favorite snacks and T-shirt of his favorite sports team
. Jerky gift basket
. A fancy bottle of bourbon or alcohol of his choice
. Framed photo of dad with the kids
. Gift card to Home Depot or Lowes
. Beard grooming kit
. ButcherBox subscription
. New grilling essentials - Spatula, tongs, apron, trey, thermometer, etc.
. New dress socks
. A fun tie
. New dress shirt
. A book by his favorite author or about his favorite topic
. Gardening tools
. New power drill
. Swiss army hammer

The trick to making any holiday or special occasion memorable is fully being present. Showing that you put thought and care into making them feel special is truly what matters. Whether he gets a homemade card or a fancy new watch, dad is certain to light up knowing that he was on your mind.

But seriously, stop reading this and go figure out wtf you’re going to do for Father’s Day!
